Nikki Haley has resigned as U.S. ambassador to the United Nations, sending a jolt through the foreign policy world and disrupting President Donald Trump’s team shortly before the midterm elections.
Haley, the former governor of South Carolina, was an early critic of then-candidate Trump before joining his administration. She has been a forceful presence at the U.N., and recently oversaw the U.S. withdrawing from the U.N. Human Rights Council.
The resignation was closely held and came as a surprise to many in the field. “What?? Nikki Haley? No, I am amazed,” one veteran GOP foreign policy hand who has advised Haley said.
Haley had said in April that her relationship with Trump was “perfect.”

After watching the Democrats try to destroy this man based on unsupported allegations, I have decided to change my voter registration to “Republican” from “Independent”. I have voted for Democrats in the past but the Democrat party has changed and not for the best. I have already sent in my ballot for the mid-terms and have voted straight Republican

Nikki Haley would be a great candidate for the presidential election of 2024 after President Trump serves as our president from 2020 to 2024. All support for Nikki to become our first woman President in 2024 and to serve as our president until 2032. Nikki is a class act unlike the efforts of class less Hillary to be the first woman president of the US. Well done supreme court Justice Kavanaugh. We need people of courage like Nikki, Brett and Judge Amy Barrett who would make an excellent Supreme court Justice when the next opening happens. God bless America.

Nikki Haley can’t be trusted. As Governor of South Carolina she promised the Confederate Flag would not come down from our statehouse grounds. She told critics the Flag was NOT Racist and did not harm anyone would would remain in its place on her clock as Governor. That was of course before we elected her for a 2nd term. Once she won, after the stupid Roof shootings, she met with Crooked Obama and announced she would have Flag removed. The promise she made before her election should have stood, she took our votes, lied to us and simply caved to that Muslim Obama. Illegal President Barack Obama and worst President we have ever had. Ben Carson would be a great President because he is a true American and Great Man. As for Nikki Haley, she is finished when it comes to majority of South Carolina voters.

Nikki Haley was one of the Greatest, if not the Greatest U.N. Ambassadors the United States has had. She leaves at a time we can least afford to loose her. Nikki Haley has given her all at the U.N. and is a true warrior for America.

The brief article did not say why she resigned. That leaves the door open to speculation, which is never good.
I think that all Americans really loved and admired Nikki Haley and are deeply saddened at her departure. She set a high standard as to what an American ambassador should be. Trust that she is OK. She will be greatly missed.
I am afraid that is Trump’s plan, disaster for US foreign policy. Also fear Bolton will get the job if it still exists.
I’m sure we will see her move to a much more important and worthwhile endeavor soon. This was only the UN after all where even with her increadable work, when you’re a diamond in a sewer and one against a thousand turds, who would want to make a career out of it?
I was in a state of shock and disbelief when I saw that Haley had resigned. I followed her actions since my move to Columbia. In my opinion she did an excellent job as UN Ambassador and CERTAINLY did a good job as South Carolina Govoner. I am saddened to see her leave her job representing The United States in the UN. I am sure she has a very good reason for leaving and I wish her the best and may GOD BLESS her in this.
This is a great loss- I thought she was a dynamic person for the job. Wonder what her plan is? Wow! Guess that position pays enough to be able to just walk away ?

Nikki Haley has been a terrific US Ambassador, this is a great loss for America in foreign affairs. She has handled this job with class, dignity, strength, and knowledge. Haley has exhibited a wiliness to learn anything she was not completely versed in which shows wisdom and strength in its self. When other countries tried to intimidate her she stood tough and was not a pushover. Nikki Haley will be greatly missed no matter what side of the political spectrum you follow. A true American!

I was hoping she’d stay until Sen. Lindsay Graham retired (or went on to be Sec/State), because that would give SOUTH CAROLINA — the SEAT of the Old Confederacy! — ONE AFRICAN-AMERICAN Senator (Sen. Tim Scott is already the only Black Republican in the Senate) and ONE ASIAN-AMERICAN (Nikki Haley’s family is from India). So much for the “Republicans are racists!” crap we her from the Dems all the time.

She is a terrific person. I have been a fan of hers since she was the governor and I hate to see her leave. But I understand that she needs some downtime to recover from the last several years of high stress positions. Hopefully President Trump will find another place for her when she is ready. The reasons behind this sudden change need to be closely watched and evaluated. I believe this sudden move is another symptom of the Trump administration’s failing infrastructure. I can’t prove this, but I am certain the truth will come to the light soon enough.
