President Donald Trump’s latest announcement is the beginning of the next chapter for Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE).
Trump shared on his Twitter feed that he has nominated Mark Morgan to be the new head of ICE.
A former FBI agent, Mark Morgan was positioned as the Border Patrol chief by the Obama administration in its final years, but was replaced when Trump took office.
Despite that, Morgan has been highly supportive of President Trump’s call for a border wall and his decision to declare a national state of emergency.
“I think any time you have a change at that level, I think it kind of gives it a jump start and maybe a new direction,” Morgan said speaking of his predecessor Kirstjen Nielsen’s departure.
