Iran is making threats as the weight of U.S. sanctions come crushing down.
The country is now saying it will abandon imposed restrictions on uranium enrichment unless Europe delivers economic aid within 60 days.
The demands were addressed to the European signatories that are bound by the failing 2015 accord. This puts them in a delicate position between Iran and the U.S. as President Trump famously pulled out of the agreement citing it was a bad deal.
In a U.K. press conference, U.S. Secretary of State Mike Pompeo shared his thoughts on the matter stating, “I’ve seen the letter that’s been sent, I think it was intentionally ambiguous. We’ll have to wait and see what Iran’s actions actually are.”
Alongside Pompeo was U.K. Foreign Secretary Jeremy Hunt who announced that if Iran refuses to uphold its responsibilities, “there will of course be consequences.” Hunt also shared that, “As long as Iran keeps its commitments, so will the U.K.”
