We guess Kaepernick is calling the shots for Nike now…
Nike was forced to recall an American flag-themed sneaker called the “Betsy Ross” from production. NFL quarterback, Colin Kaepernick, felt the Besty Ross shoes were “offensive”. Kaepernick, who no longer plays in the NFL, is focusing on being a political activist and has apparently become a spokesperson for Nike.
The “Betsy Ross” sneaker was created in celebration of the July Fourth holiday. The sneaker has been described as, “..the heel of the shoe featured a U.S. flag with 13 white stars in a circle, a design created during the American Revolution and commonly referred to as the Betsy Ross flag.”
However, because of Kaepernick’s complaint, the shoes are no longer going to be sold. Kaepernick and other felt that the shoe could be constructed as a symbol of approval for slavery, white nationalism, and white supremacy.
Do you think Kaepernick has the right to tell Nike what to do?
