According to CNS News, House Speaker Nancy Pelosi stated that “being a woman was a pre-existing medical condition.”
“Of course, our goal is to have universal coverage, universal access to quality, affordable health care,” Pelosi said. “A giant step forward to that was the Affordable Care Act, affording life-saving protections for more than 130 million Americans with a pre-existing medical condition.”
“And, actually,” Pelosi continued, “they said being a woman was a pre-exiting medical condition. The Affordable Care Act took care of that.”
“As a mother of five,” Pelosi said, “I was told that that was an obstacle to my getting insurance because I had five children. And I said: ‘I thought that was a sign of my strength.’” You can read the full article here.
